Budapest

This jewel on the banks of the majestic Danube River is the most prominent city in Hungary. Budapest, the capital of the country, captivates visitors with its history, culture, and beauty.

The city is home to a diverse range of attractions, from stunning landmarks to historic architecture and thermal baths, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the city. It is proudly the home of the country’s two most prominent landmarks: the Buda Castle and the Hungarian Parliament Building.

The city’s thriving cultural and art scene are big attractions to visitors, who come in their thousands every year to explore the numerous museums, galleries, and theaters scattered throughout the city.

Debrecen

Debrecen is a cultural hub in Hungary, famous for its array of architectural sites, galleries, and theaters. The city is the country’s second-largest and one of the foremost cities Hungary is known for.  Debrecen became a popular center in the 19th century, during which it enjoyed stints as the nation’s capital. The century saw the rise of several historical landmarks in the city, such as the imposing Reformed Great Church, located in the city’s main square.

The city is also home to the stunningly beautiful Déri Museum, which houses diverse collections of religious paintings, artifacts, and contemporary works. It is one of the most prominent museums Hungary is famous for.

Beyond Debrecen’s lively culture, the city is also recognized for having strong educational institutions, such as the world-renowned University of Debrecen.

Lake Balaton

Lake Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe, is often referred to as the ‘Hungarian Sea.”

The lake is a popular destination for water enthusiasts and visitors looking to relax in the coolness of crystal-clear waters. You can take part in several water activities here, including swimming, sailing, and windsurfing.

Adding to the lake’s allure are the charming areas and vineyards surrounding it, which give visitors and wine lovers the opportunity of exploring famous wine-growing areas and sample a variety of Hungarian wines.
